Secrets to Recruitment, Hiring and the Management of People
The most important decisions that you will ever make involve hiring. There is only so much that you can accomplish as a single individual. In order to truly achieve greatness, it requires building a team that works as one in executing against a single defined goal.
Let’s breakdown the hiring process now.
The first step is that when we want to hire someone, provide an offer letter with fully transparent information.
My letter includes the candidate’s information, the job description, and requirements, compensation – everything.
Any additional provisions that I have promised are also reflected in the letter.
This is followed by the very important onboarding process.
From the moment they walk in the front door, I want them to feel like they are part of the family.
I have a swag bag ready, a water bottle with their names on it, a personalized business card.
I have an employee handbook ready to go that clearly spells out the benefits they will be offered, our policies procedures, etc.
I sometimes even send a letter to their family that effectively says, “Thank you so much for being part of our family. We know that your husband or your wife has joined our team and we want you to know that you and your family are part of our family.”
It doesn’t end at orientation.
We schedule regular check-ins to make sure that the new employee feels supported and things are going well.
